Our house sits about 23 km from the centre of Sodankylä, some 140 km north of the Arctic Circle, with the shoreline of Lake Vaalajärvi just a short walk away. The whole house and yard are yours during your stay.
Inside you'll find a large lounge with an open fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, and a large wood-heated sauna. Down by the lake there's a private Aurora Kota – a Lappish teepee with an open fire – for grilling sausages, warming up after snowshoeing, or watching the sky for auroras. In summer, the jetty is there for swimming.
We are Tarja, Scott and Kristian. We've hosted guests here for nine years and always give a personal welcome and local tips.

Good to know: a car is needed – there's no public transport to the house. The lake bottom by the jetty is muddy.

What to do here
Winter
Snowshoe or cross-country ski right from the yard. A snowmobile trail starts about 1 km away across the lake. Luosto and Levi ski resorts are within day-trip distance.
Summer
Midnight sun, swimming from the jetty, paddling on the lake and a sauna that ends with a dip.
Autumn – ruska
Lapland's autumn colours, berry picking, hiking, and reindeer wandering past the house.
